How do I get a doctor that will deliver my child ?

So I’ve had two children before this pregnancy . I’m curious as to how I get a set doctor that will deliver my baby ? Both of my other children I had a set doctor and she was supposed to deliver but instead I had whom was ever on call and residents. Is that normal now a days . I always remembered my mother and grandmother saying they had they same doctor . 🤷🏽‍♀️

I used a midwife with my second for that reason. Not really sure what ill choose this time

Normal depending on the practice 
Some practices have less doctors than others. It depends. The doctor that delivered my son was one of three doctors that could have delivered him depending on if they were off that day or not.

At the ob practice I go to, if you have the baby during the day, your doctor will come deliver it but if it's after hours then whoever is on call will deliver it.
I think there are some practices out there that do it differently. More likely if it's a small practice.

It just depends on when you go into labor. I've had the same obgyn for about 4 years and he delivered my first son but I was induced so he knew he would have to be there. I went into early labor at 30 weeks and another doctor came in to keep an eye on me because it was at 2am. My doctor has his own practice so he's very busy. He delivered all of my brothers 3 kids but they were all born in the morning. Maybe let them know you'd like to be induced if you want then same doctor to deliver.

At my OB for my first they scheduled you with all the midwives and doctors so you could meet them. Any of them could be the ones to deliver the baby. If you were high risk then I think maybe you could have a set OB. I am going to a new place now so we will see.

You may not be able to. I know my sisters doctor wasn’t able to deliver her baby. Her doctor was at another hospital delivering another baby. That woman went into labor first and had her baby first. Can’t be two places at once. Maybe go to a different doctor and express that concern? Have your pregnancies always been high risk? This is just a guess, but maybe being high risk involves a different protocol and your delivery would be prioritized by the doctor. But they also have their own lives and sometimes that interferes too.
