Boys will be boys.

Chesh • Mummy to Theodore and Daniel

So, as a mother to a boy with another on the way, I've been thinking about this phrase and was wondering if you think it's okay to use?

Personally I'm undecided, if you're using it to excuse shitty behaviour then no. It's never okay. Your kid is just an asshole. If you're using it to explain why your child is covered in mud and bruises then why not just say "he's a kid", because girls are just as likely to come home covered in mud and bruises as boys are. All kids climb, and chase each other, and trip over, so it's not just a "boy thing". Curious to hear other people's opinions.

So, should we use the phrase "Boys will be boys", or not?
