Night Weaning?

My little girl is 6 months old. She goes to bed between 6:30-7:30 and she wakes anywhere between 1-3 to feed (she doesn’t cry but starts talking so I just feed her and she falls back to sleep) and then she’s up between 6:30-7:30. When can I start weaning her from that middle of the night feeding? I really don’t want her to be hungry at night but I honestly don’t know if she is or she’s just waking up because she’s used to me feeding her. I’m going to speak with her doctor on Thursday but have any of you completely cut out night feedings yet?

You could wean her now for sure! I would recommend(if you’re nursing) cutting the time she nurses for by like two mins for a few nights, and then two more. It’s a slow process, but it should work. Does your girl take a pacifier? I know there’s a lot of controversy with sleep props, but that helped a TON for us with the MOTN wake ups. Cause they want to suckle for comfort. I still occasionally have to feed my girl at 5:30-6am, but that’s only when she was overtired before bed and I KNOW she didn’t get a full feed in. We usually are up for the day around 7, so I just put her back down afterwards. Also, I follow Taking Cara Babies, and she suggests once they go for a long stretch, never feed them until it’s to that point you know they can get to. So if she didn’t wake up till 3am for a couple nights then wakes at 1am, don’t feed her till 3...but I know that’s hard if they get upset:/

I cut out a 12 am feeding . He goes to bed around 8 and was sleeping through the night basically . He got sick and got in a routine of a midnight feeding it took me about 2 nights just using the soother or letting a light cry for 5 minutes but he now is back to sleeping 11 hours waking to eat quick then sleeps another 2. I did this with the ok from my doctor as well cause my sons definitely not having weight issues lol!

My babe used to wake up at 11p and then 2am for another feed. We weaned her off the 2am one and now give her a dreamfeed at 10p. She now sleeps from 7p to 6am without wakeups. I think we’re gonna keep the dreamfeed for another month and then wean it off.

You could wean her, but you are essentially asking her to go 12 hours without eating. How often do you do that? And she's growing a ton on top of that. I would try to move bedtime later and have her just take an evening nap from 6:30 to 8 and then put her down at 9:30 and up at 7:30.

To clarify, she wakes once between 1am-3am to feed. I was wondering when I can cut out feeding her through the night.

My doctor said after 4 months they didint need to be fed at night as long as they are healthy.
