What are your thoughts on ultrasounds and doppler use?

I am going for my 5th ultrasound on Saturday, which will be my anatomy scan. I had a subchorionic hemorrhage early on in my pregnancy that my doctor wanted to monitor. I also have an at home doppler that I definitely do not use every day, but have used frequently enough. Just wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on dopplers and ultrasounds. My doctor says they are safe but I have heard lots of conflicting opinions.

Listen to what your doctor says. I have a doppler and my doc actually told me to use it twice a day for 3 mins at a time but my baby hates it and runs away from it so I only use it like once a week. If your doc says its fine then its fine!

Ultrasounds when medically necessary only, there are studies that say there are unknown risks that may become apparent with non routine scans. There’s no conclusive evidence at present but I certainly would not want scans every week unless it was medically necessary. In the uk we routinely have only 2 scans per pregnancy

Not enough evidence for me regarding home Doppler use. Ultrasound when medically necessary and that’s all I’ll do.

Personally no the waves can be way to strong for the kid I wouldn't use a Doppler at home just the fact their isn't much research on the waves

I used to use my Doppler everyday, now I use it maybe once a week cause I feel her moving. I’ve had 3 ultrasounds so far at 26w, getting another one tomorrow. I’m also high risk so I’ll be getting ultrasound weekly 32w until delivery.

My doctor is personally against home Doppler’s. I’m not good at using it anyway.

It’s safe. You would have to ultrasound for 6 consecutive hours to alter the temperature in your uterus. There is nothing wrong with ultrasound or Doppler use.

Well, I had an ultrasound at every appointment with my first because my doctor had one in the exam room. He turned out fine. 
I have an at home Doppler too, I used it a lot at first but have stopped using it so much because I can feed movement now, so I don’t feel the need to constantly check in. My new doctor didn’t say whether it was good or bad she just sighed and rolled her eyes and made sure to tell me not the freak out if I can’t find it’s heartbeat. Which by the way I find it faster than she does lol.

I was very high risk due to my son’s major medical issues. I used a home Doppler and had about 30 ultrasounds. My doctors said it was fine. Sometimes you have to weigh the risks. A possible small risk was much better than the alternative for me.
