Is it okay to want to wait to have sex?

Okay so I’m 18 and I just met this guy and he is SOOOO NICE and super respectable. Today he bought me a hot chocolate, took me on a walk, and then walked me back to my dorm even though his parking ramp was far away. I had a lot of fun. I’ve never been in a serious relationship, never had sex, and never kissed a guy before. If I end up being in a serious relationship with this guy, is it weird to want to wait a while before I have sex with him? Like maybe a few months? I just feel like he’s a guy and in the end he’s gonna wanna have sex eventually, but I don’t think I’m ready to have sex right now or anytime soon, whether I’m in a relationship or not. I feel a lot of pressure to have sex in today’s society. Is it ok or weird to want to wait?

Its perfectly okay to wait! And please do if you aren’t ready. If he can’t respect that, then he isn’t the one you want to have your first time with anyway and isn’t worth your time. There’s nothing wrong with waiting to have sex.

Definitely not weird at all! Wait as long as you want to. It’s up to you & don’t let anyone pressure you or make you feel bad about it. If any guy can’t wait for you then they’re not the one for you hun. With my experience with my now fiancé. We met young 14/15 years old. He never pressured me, he waited as long as I wanted. Which was around a year before losing our virginities to each other. He was very slow & understanding with me. He still is to this day (7 years later) very patient with me because I don’t have as high of a sex drive as him nowadays. He’s a very kind man, find you one that will continue to be patient & love you just the same afterwards.

It’s absolutely NOT weird to want to wait. 
Especially since you’re a virgin - wait until you’re 100% ready and feel you’ve found the person you trust and love. 
Men typically will want sex but any man not willing to respect your wishes and wait for you isn’t worth keeping around. A man who loves you will respect your wishes and wait as long as it takes for you to be ready and not make you feel bad or guilty about it.

Not weird at all. Stick to your standards and don’t let society pressure you into doing something you’re not ready. I waited until I was 25,and I don’t regret it at all. So many men wanted to take my virginity so bad, but I’m glad I didn’t give in. I knew they weren’t the one and just couldn’t do it. Wait as long as you want and need to, dear, and don’t feel bad about it.
