Mine didn’t approve of my first boyfriend because he was an awful person and I finally realized that lol. Took me two years though 🙄 im 18 now and they love my boyfriend. I don’t Think it was them being strict, they just wanted me to be with someone good and who loved me and treated me right.

My parents, parents seem to see what we don’t.. i was young and blinded by the “bad boys, that’s are hot and have all this game”. I was an idiot, I wish I would have listened and saved myself a few heartaches.

I married the boy they didn't approve of. He was a high school so out, pot head, ECT. But he was only 17 at the time, I was just over 18, I figured he was just young and he'd mature with a little time and whatnot. But nope! He drove us DEEP into debt, only wanted to get high and drunk with his friends all the time, even after years and after marriage and having 2 kids. When I tried getting him to take responsibility and spend time with his family he'd become abusive. Anytime he felt financially stressed he blamed it on me and became abusive. The abuse didn't start until after marriage and kids. Sadly, it took 8 years of hell before I got smart and divorced his ass.
