Son is rough while playing.

Raven

How do I get my son to be more gentle? He's two years 3 months old. He's very gentle with animals and other kids, but with me he's very rough sometimes. Obviously being 15 weeks pregnant now I can't have him climbing all over me and risk him kicking or headbutting my stomach. He doesn't do it intentionally, he gets very excited and flails around like a crazy man and ends up hitting me. I've asked him to be gentle, put him down and away from me, told him no. We don't spank so don't even suggest that, besides I can't expect him to be gentle with me if im not gentle with him in the moment I need him to be gentle. We're getting him a baby doll once we know the baby's gender so he can learn to be gentle with that. But my problem not is him being too wild when he's close or in my lap. He doesn't pull hair, bite, or intentionally hit or kick. It's the excited flailing about and jumping that I worry about. Like I said. I tried asking him to be gentle, not letting him be near me if he gets wild, walking away from him and saying no but he'll just stop for a minute, and then next time he's excited does it again, it's been a month of me trying to get him to stop and it's just not working.
