Blocked tear duct surgery involving tubes, anyone had this done on their toddler???

Son is now almost 20 months, had probing surgery done at 15 months. Was hoping it was successful but seems to get clogged again pretty quickly after surgery. Now doctor wants to do silicone intubation (tubes in the tear ducts) for 6 months then removal. I am a nervous wreck and looking for ANYONE who has had same experience.

Answer

I’ve not had this done with my child, but I used to work for an ophthalmologist who did these surgeries - with stent intubation. It will help keep the tear duct open to prevent blockage again. I think the surgery and recovery will be very similar to his first surgery. I’m sure it’s very nerve wrecking though. I hope this surgery fixes the problem, so you don’t have to deal with this again.
