Is it normal for kids to lie?

I have a 7 year old daughter who loves to create these elaborate stories. It's all the time. Is this normal?

I don't think my kids know how to tell the truth my two year old blames everything on the dog I saw my house is filled with a ghost named I don't know because when something happens everyone says I don't know smh

My son is 7 and doesn't tell lies. He tries to tell me tall tales, but he quickly tells me "not really, I'm just teasing". He's my little realist.

Yes! It's actually a sign of intelligence to be able to craft lies in early childhood. I posted a link to an article about it a bunch of posts down in this room.

Yes. My oldest went through a phase like this when she was around that age. This too shall pass.

Allow stories but make clear that the act of falsely claiming something with the intent to deceive is wrong.
My 5 year old is very imaginative. He is still rubbish at lying, so I try to keep calm and discuss his falsehoods with him to hep him understand where a litre could lead. Won't know if it helps for a while!
