Early scans?!

Question

Why do some people get scans early? I have to wait til I'm 12 weeks for mine so the only proof I have that something is in there is 2 lines on 3 tests taken 3 weeks ago! Just worried I'm gonna go and there's going to be nothing there!

I had mine at 6 weeks 4 days as my last pregnancy was a ruptured ectopic and I nearly lost my life so they wanted to check that baby was in the right place this time

My doctors also make you wait till around 11 weeks but I had a miscarriage earlier this year and needed some reassurance so I set up an appt with a local 4d ultra sound place and I was able to see and hear my babys heart beat. If you need a little sneak peek to make you feel better that's what I did :)

I had that exact fear. I was persistent about getting in soon and wasn't sure how far along I was so the doctor did an ultrasound. It's amazing seeing that little person on the screen no matter how small!

I get a viability scan at 7 weeks because we had IVF and if everything is okay at that scan we'll get released from the FS to an obgyn. That's in Aus, but everywhere seems to have diff policies in early scans.

I only had mine at 6 weeks one day as I had spotting and they wanted to make sure wasn't eptopic!to go back at 8 weeks unless it's high risk or they are concerned it will be 12weeks unless you paid for a private early scan Hun ?xx

I had mine at 7 weeks (but turned out I was actually 8 weeks). They had suspected twins and I couldn't keep anything down for days. I had some light spotting, so they wanted to make sure everything was ok. My first scan was scheduled for 12 weeks.

I had an early scan because my last pregnancy was a loss.  It's pretty common to do that. For previous losses and high risk pregnancies.

I am having one at 9 weeks as we're seeing family that weekend and I'd like to see the baby before we announce the news. Otherwise I'd just wait for the NHS scan.
