14 month & Bloodwork?

So my doctor wants my little one to have bloodwork done. I’m terrified for her. I don’t know what that has to be done. And how do they pull blood on a toddler? 
I’m not sure I can handle this just yet 😞
Any advise?

They will usually use a short butterfly needle for infants/ toddlers. 
My son had blood drawn & literally didn’t even cry , but i sure did. 
Don’t worry mama, but be forewarned you will have to hold baby down & someone else is going to have to help. it’s not easy but it’s doable

Getting our daughter’s blood work done was easier than vaccines and shots.  
I held her still while daddy made goofy faces at her.  One tech held her arm and the other took the blood.  Over in less than a minute. Way more traumatic for mommy and daddy.

For us it was just a finger prick that took a minute but no big deal! Ask them to do that!

We had to do it several times when my daughter was a newborn. For her, they poked her heal and squeezed out blood. I don’t know how they do it for older babies. It is really difficult for mom though. The part she hated the most was being restrained. Once they finished and I could pick her up, she calmed down within a few minutes. Good luck, momma!

They wanted my son to get his blood drawn at 9mo for the lead test but i read it can be done anytime before age 2 so I’m putting it off as long as possible. Went to lab Corp when he was 10 mo. they didn’t even use a butterfly and couldn’t get nothing out and he screamed at the top of his lungs. After that awful experience i told my pedi unless its absolutely necessary he wont be having the blood drawn till he’s older. He’s 14 months and still hasn’t needed it done. When i take him the next time it will be somewhere where people specialize in blood draws for children, not labcorp where them people just poked someone 100 times to get their certificate. They suck there.

My son had his done today. He screamed a little while it was happening but once it was over he was fine. Your daughter will be okay, its important to check her blood count

We did 3 actual blood draws when my daughter is a month ish old! It was worse for me than it was for her

We have done two finger pricks to test my daughter’s iron levels! They are easy, don’t worry! I held my daughter in my lap and the nurse just poked her finger then squeezed out a sample. No crying even! Good luck!
