Is it wrong to push your children into showing affection such as a hug? (See article)
The post about is it ok to make your kids apologize reminded me about a topic that was brought to my attention a few years back from the Scouts organization.
You are at holiday get together or a birthday party and Aunt Marg gives your child a gift. You say “now go say thank you and give Aunt Marg a hug” your child responds with “no” and refuses. But as so many of us have probably done or been witness to say “go on” and push the child into giving Aunt Marg a hug. Is this behaviour wrong? Are we denying our children consent?
Here’s an article of what I’m talking about.
Before this was presented to me I never thought about it. What do you think?
