Uterine cysts?? Or pregnancy??

Alyssa • 👼👼👼👼👼👼👼👶

No, I’m not talking about an ovarian cyst. Let me explain.

So last month, my doctor found a hemorrhagic cyst on my ovary. He said it would go away on its own, so he scheduled my follow up for 5 weeks later (today). I felt it rupture & bared out, so I expected my ultrasound to be normal today.

As I was watching my ultrasound, I saw a small black circle in my uterus. I’ve had many ultrasounds before & never seen anything like it, so I asked what it was. The u/s tech said it was a cyst. I was confused, & she just said that all girls get them. (This really confused me. I’d never heard of a cyst in the uterus like this, so I decided to look it up later.)

Then, when she looked at my ovaries, I noticed her marking a rather large looking black circle. I asked if that was my cyst. She said it was a cyst, but not “the” cyst. She said that all girls have cysts there, too. I said I wasn’t concerned because I’ve gotten cysts in my ovaries before. The lady was confused. She explained that all of the eggs were called cysts. (?????) I just stopped talking to her at that point.

The doctor didn’t look at the scans, he just read the report, & he told me what was found. He asked me if the tech had said anything, & I said no, & he said that they usually don’t give any information at all. He said the hemorrhagic cyst was gone & everything looked good.

Now I was a nursing student for a while, so I know a thing or two about anatomy, medical terminology, & how to look at some scans. So I know that a cyst is just a fluid-filled sac. So yeah, I guess an ovum could technically be called a cyst I guess.

ANYWAY, here is the question: I literally cannot find any sort of info on UTERINE cysts, especially ones that are common enough for “all girls to get.”

ALSO, I am several days late for my period, & I’m experiencing some pregnancy symptoms. I took a test that could be positive, but the line is *SO* faint that I need to wait a little while to test again because I can’t tell if it’s an indent or not.

SO THEN I decided to look up what an ultrasound would look like at 4-5 weeks pregnant & the tiny little yolk sac is EXACTLY what my ultrasound looked like today.

SO HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS:

1. Are there cysts that show up in the uterus that are super common for everyone? If so, HOW DO I FIND INFO ABOUT THEM??

2. Do y’all think I could be pregnant??? Or am I just crazy???

Sorry for the long post, it’s keeping me awake, I can’t stop scrutinizing over it all 😬🙃
