Vacation with 1 year old

What are good places or things to do for a vacation with a 1 year old. Our son with be 1 in April and we didn’t get to do anything last year so I really really want to do a vacation this year even if it’s small. I will go to the beach but I’d like to do something a little more adventurous.

Any ideas what we’d be able to do with a 1 year old with us?
