It was my first and most important criteria. If he wasn’t a Christian I wasn’t even going on a date with him. The Bible is very clear that Christians should not be “unequally yolked” with unbelievers because it pulls them away from the faith. It was a priority for me that the man I marry love Jesus and lead our family towards God. When I was dating my now husband we worked hard to figure out where we stood in a variety of secondary issues issues but the main issues of Christianity (The divinity of Christ, the trinity, the inerrancy of scripture, etc) were nonnegotiable

The Bible says not to be unequally yoked. Meaning like 2 horses on the same yoke are going to work better than a horse and a donkey since they are not the same size. 
I think it is extremely important. My husband and I struggle sometimes because I was raised fully Pentecostal and he was baptist (his dad is a minister and VERY set in his ways even if they may be misinterpreted). That alone is a struggle. I couldn’t imagine if he just didn’t believe at all.

If you are Christian and you marry say a Muslim then it's not going to go well. They'll want you to come to mosque and you probably won't come and you'll want them to come to church and they probably won't come and things would build up and then

My husband and I are both Christians, but I'm Catholic and he was raised Protestant; mostly non-denominational with Pentecostal tossed in. 
He currently does not practice but he agrees that whatever child or children we have should be raised in a Christian faith. He agreed that it would be Catholicism. 
I think it's beyond important to have agreeable foundations and even better to share a Faith.

While I will say I’m happy that I can share my faith with my boyfriend I don’t think it’s necessary
