VBAC???

Question

Both labors and deliveries I have gotten to 10 and pushed. First was successful second placenta detached and I had to have emergency c section after pushing three times. I want a VBAC but my medical friends say don't do it. I'm a perfect candidate since I know I can do vaginal. Thoughts? Pros? Cons? Please share VBAC experiences.

I have never done a VBAC but I did ask my Dr about it and he said he couldn't guarantee it. My aunt had a c section with her first and she delivered another 1 yr & 3 months later as a vbac. No problems and her incision is straight down from her abdomen. When I asked my Dr he said we will discuss it more once I do conceive again.

When i found out i was pregnant i did all the research online that i could on repeat c section vs vbac and found a doctor who was pro vbac. She told me all the risks and gave me lots of information on it so I could decide long before I needed to have a decision ready. I am choosing vbac for me because it seems the best decision.

I just read this article this morning that was clearing up old vs new birthing perceptions and standards. I noticed that a lot of the replies said that it was dangerous, but it seems that that perception is shifting. Thought I would pass along what I read in the newest American Baby mag that I picked up at my last prenatal appt. I'm not telling you which way to go, but maybe this article will help or give you food for thought.

I would be hesitant if I was you only because your last one your placenta abrupted. Not only is a VBAC dangerous but because you abrupted once I would be too nervous that it would happen again.  Of course you prefer the vaginal delivery, and I don't blame you. I think in the end you have to look at it as is it worth risking baby's and your life to deliver vaginally or would you just rather have a c section and deliver a happy healthy baby and know that you aren't putting it all at risk?  Best of luck to you!

I would look up the odds of a placental abruption happening again and start there.  You have a proven pelvis, that's a positive. It sounds like you are in a place that can do emergency c-sections quickly, another positive. Depending upon what the research says about placental abruption, it sounds like you are a great candidate.
