Traveling to No Toy Land??

Sy

My husband and I are thinking about visiting family in North Carolina, which is 1200 miles away from us. In the summer when we would go, we will have a two year old and a ~7 month old. The family we would be visiting are elderly and do not have children around ever so they don’t have toys or child entertainment, obviously. We would also fly there instead of spending 3 days in a car each way. Now here’s my issue:

How do I keep them entertained without bringing all their favorite toys? I mean we will be there a week at most and it’s hard to keep a toddler and infant’s interest on just one toy for that long. We can go to museums or a pool once in a while but I’m really nervous about this. I want more than anything for my uncle to meet my husband and children because he means so much to me. He’s unable to travel due to his complicated medical issues so we rarely see him. It’s been over 5 years since I’ve seen him. Obviously this trip is not a done deal, but I want to get everything thought of before we start planning and buying tickets.

Anyone have any experience or tips when traveling to a place with small children and not much to do?
