Does lack of political education lead to fewer numbers at the polls?
I've been wondering why people do not vote for a while now. After doing some research on the citizenship ship test and seeing the astoundingly low number of people under 40 who would pass, I came to question if lack of political knowledge could be the blame for low voter turnout. Specifically during mid-term elections.
My political knowledge is so-so, if I'm being completely honest. I don't put a large amount of effort into educating myself on the mid-term candidates. I look for their core values and beliefs and go off of that.
I do a lot more research when it comes to the primary.
Bonus question 🎉
Is it possible that some Trump voters, voted for him simply because of their lack of political knowledge?
Bear with me here. If you followed along with this last elections campaigns, you'd have noticed a significant difference in the wording. Trump used big flashy, yet very simple words and phrases. "I'm going to build a wall!" "Bomb the shit out of ISIS" There's honestly so many, I'd be here all day.
Wheras his rival in the primaries, Hilary Clinton, said things like "Pass comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship that keeps families together." and "Stand up to Republican-led attacks on this landmark (health care) law—and build on its success to bring the promise of affordable health care to more people and make a ‘public option’ possible."
Is lack of political terms and knowledge partially to blame?
