Do these tests give false positives?

I ask because I’m anywhere up to a week late now (could be a couple days could be a week not entirely sure as I can be irregular) and I’ve been having faint lines pop up instantly (these tests say do not read result after 15 mins and the line is there within a minute) for about a week now so I’m just so confused! Xx

A false positive is caused by something in the body other than pregnancy that produces hcg. This could be a large cyst/tumor or certain medications such as fertility medication containing hcg or some cancer medications. If neither of these apply to you and you're not pregnant then it would be either an evap, indent or dye run. These tests are designed to measure the hcg in your system so as long as they're used properly, the test would be accurate.
