yup. 
and I think can can be even harder for certain races/genders. 
we just had a kidnapping at my mom where the guy took a mother and child and forced them to drive to another state where he assaulted the mother. they were able to escape. 
but as a mom and 9 month old I was terrified the other day to go to a store near the mall. I locked myself in the car while I buckled my son in. I couldn't imagine being African American in a racist neighborhood with trigger friendly cops.

I don't think it's "hard", persay, and that's coming from someone who has had depression for half of their entire life.
I feel like it's just not easy. If it was hard, then there wouldn't be as many people living as there are now. Really it just takes effort.
