Softened Water???

this is a completely irrelevant question pertaining to this app, but I rent an apartment and we have a water softener. Is it safe to drink? I’m pretty sure that means we have well water too? i’m not sure.

Why would they install an expensive water system that made the water unsafe to drink, hon? Lol.
And softened water does not mean you have well water. Anyone can have a water softener, whether they are on well or city water.

It’s safe. Ours uses salt to soften, so plants hate it, they need all the minerals in regular tap water to thrive. We also have a reverse osmosis water filter and just pur filtration on another. All three systems have a different taste but are safe to consume. If youre sensitive to sodium, then you may want to invest in bottled water. Other than that, soft water has been great for our plumbing, appliances, less water marks and soap scum Clean up, our hair and skin are great as well. We also Use less detergents in laundry.

Should be safe you can get it tested to be sure. Personally water from the spicket freaks me out unless it goes through a filter but that’s just in general not because ours is softened lol I imagine if it’s an apartment it’s safe to drink

We have a water softener with reverse osmosis so ours is safe to drink. I’m pretty sure yours should be! It’s a good thing to have one! That way your hair and skin won’t be dried out from the hard water and you won’t get rusty pipes!

In my area most of the time if there is a water softener it is well water and not safe to drink. You can get it tested to see if it is safe though. When we had well water it also made the tub and toilet orange sometimes and smelled like eggs
