Paxil?

Question

Any of y’all of Paxil? I got prescribed it today for anxiety and OCD. 
Did it work for you? Did you have any bad side effects on it?

Answer

I am on Paxil for anxiety (and Xanax for bad days) and it works great for me. It takes a few weeks to feel the full effect, but I think it is worth it. I have been on it for about a year now. The side effects I have had are: night sweats at 4am every night for 6-9 months (it was like I was menopausal haha), lowered my libido but I think it’s finally back on the upswing after a year and learning more about my anxiety and such, and it made me gain about 5-10 pounds in the last year. 
What I love is that because it builds up in your system you don’t have big waves in your medicine’s “coverage” like you do with something like Xanax that just stays in your system 6-12 hours. Before Paxil I had days where I was just desperate to be able to take my next dose.
Hope this helps :) not everyone gets side effects or the same ones, and depending on your personality the side effects don’t have to be a deal breaker. Melatonin helps me not get anxious about worrying if I’ll wake up at 4am. And realizing they Paxil didn’t like take away the ability to have sex, just that initial spark to initiate helped me figure out what I needed from myself or my partner to get in the mood. 😋
