Progesterone suppositories?

My husband and I are starting IVF in the next month or so. I am honestly terrified of the PIO. I have done SQ shots for multiple IUI’s so I’m not really worried about the stims (at least not as much.) I’ve read that the progesterone suppositories are just as affective as the IM shots. So basically I just want to know if anyone has used the suppositories for IVF and had a successful outcome, or if you weren’t successful did you then do PIO and feel like that changed anything? I am willing to do anything to have a healthy baby and will absolutely do PIO if it is truly better, just figured why torture myself (we’re already going through enough) if I don’t really need to. PS- I’m also following up with my RE about this, just wanted to hear some personal stories. (The good, the bad, and the ugly please)

I don’t find the shots that bad. I ice before and use a little heat after. It just feel like I did a bunch of squats. No pain, just sore. I’m only on day 7 of the shots, so 🤞🏼it stays this way.

This is great to hear! My doctor said the suppositories are nearly as effective so I will certainly be asking for them over injections!

I asked for the suppositories. I wanted nothing to do with that needle or the oil. My husband also travels sometimes and would not want to venture that alone.

We did suppositories with medicated IUI and it didn’t help so when we did IVF we moved to the shots.  At that point we’d done so many shots what was 1 more.  We’re starting IVF again (start priming next week) for hopefully a sibling for our IVF baby from last time and will do the shots again. If you go with the shots just ice the area first to numb it then massage it in really good after to disperse it and it’s not bad!

I am 13weeks pregnant thanks to ivf! I used progesterone suppositories the whole time, no pio shots. 100mg tablets three times a day. everything worked out fine and I've been off them for 2 weeks. they are messy (constant discharge) and can irritate your cervix, leading to spotting (nothing to worry about, but can cause worry nonetheless). good luck!

Hi, I am currently 6 weeks pregnant after completing one successful round of IVF. I had to do two PIO shots and then I am still currently taking the progesterone suppositories (approx one month before getting pregnant and now for about another month until almost the end of the first trimester). 
The shots are definitely more painful than the Lupron and my wife administered them to me in my butt cheeks (just one a day for two days). The pain lasts less than 10 seconds and then you just feel sore the next few days, as if you worked out and did a bunch of squats the day before. The suppositories are obviously painless they just leave a little a bit of discharge in your underwear each day. 
Given that I only needed one round I think the combination was very successful! Hope this helps.
