Does this look cancerous?

The dark spot in the center I've had for a while, but the lighter patches around it are relatively new. I'm making a doctor appointment on monday to get it checked. In the meantime, I want to know what you guys think.

Still get checked out. It looks to me like its normal. Has it grown lately? Is it actually bigger than an eraser tip on a pencil?

It looks normal to me...but having a skin check up is always very important and I would get any concerns checked out! I have some spots that have every characteristic of skin cancer but are harmless....you really can't tell by appearance! Try not to worry yourself :)

The standard used for melanomas is ABCDE: 
A = asymmetry (looks different on each side) 
B = border irregularity (rough instead of nice and smooth) 
C = color (usually 2+, usually obvious) 
D = diameter 6+ mm 
E = evolving/changing over time (growing fast - many tend to grow very slowly) 
They can also be problematic if they continually itch or bleed and not heal. Nothing wrong with seeing a doc from time to time to take a good look at your skin, especially if you've spent a lot of time in the sun. Better to catch it early.

They just look like age/sun spots to me but better to be safe than sorry.
