Cervical check??

Question

When does the doctor start checking your cervix to see if you’re dilating? My mom was asking me if they have checked me at all at my appointments and when I said no she seemed concerned. Should I ask my doctor on the 22nd when I go for an ultrasound what he thinks? I’m a first time mom so I don’t know much about this stuff.

Most doctors offices won’t until 36-37 weeks unless you start showing signs such as contractions, loss of mucus plug or things of the sort.

My doctor never did until I was actually in labor...there really isn’t a need for it until then honestly.  You can be at x amount of cm for days without progressing...

Mine wanted to start checking at 36 weeks but I refused. The exams don’t have any benefit besides satisfying a curiosity. They make no difference in outcomes for you and baby. Some doctors don’t do it til 49 weeks if you make it that far. You don’t have to get checked and if you do, you don’t have to tell anyone what the result was.

It’s not a necessary thing, my midwife only does it if I want her to and only just brought it up wen I was 36weeks bout to be 38weeks now.
