Anyone else plan on Homeschooling their kids? We are so excited for this journey!
For homeschooling our kindergartener this year we'll be using Timberdoodle's complete homeschool curriculum kit. We like Timberdoodle's curriculum because it's very hands-on and full of fun activities for us to do with our child. It also does a great job at providing a flexible schedule and scope and sequence that's easy to follow. It lets us move through the material at our own pace and still finish the school year on time.
Before I am asked why we chose the homeschool route I will list a few of the reasons..
She has several allergies that could be life threatening, one being eggs that most people hand items containing without realizing it contains eggs.
We control the curriculum.
With homeschooling, I can choose the curriculum that best meets my child's learning style.
Visual learner? No problem, we can incorporate that into our plans. Hands-on explorer? We can include materials and tools to facilitate hands-on learning.
A relaxed atmosphere.
Homeschooling, for the most part, is a much more tranquil atmosphere than the traditional school system. My girls can sleep in if they need to. They can learn in their pajamas and eat whenever their bodies demand food.
It keeps me connected with my child's education.
My home, my values.
More time with my kids.
I do understand it’s definitely not for everyone and that’s completely okay 🙂

Edit: I am not asking why you do not like homeschooling, feel like it’s not right or whatever reasonings you have. I was just seeing if anyone else was homeschooling and sharing my excitement because after so much searching I have finally found a hands on curriculum we love!
She is very well socialized, in sports and will be in co ops. We are not worried about that at all because it’s covered 🙂
One of the things I love about homeschooling is kids DON’T learn the same. So you can find ways to teach your kids that works best for them! ❤️
I’ve never used this curriculum before, this curriculum looks amazing though. I’m not trying to sale anything. I’m sharing my excitement and honestly get judged everything I make a homeschool post so I posted anonymously. Shouldn’t feel like I’m going to be bashed over something like this because I feel like this is right for my family..Everyone has different opinions and that’s okay but no need to bash someone because they do things differently.
There are only three requirements to homeschool in Texas: The instruction must be bona fide (i.e., not a sham). The curriculum must be in visual form (e.g., books, workbooks, video monitor). The curriculum must include the five basic subjects of reading, spelling, grammar, mathematics, and good citizenship. So this curriculum will be okay for me to use 🙂
I also wanted to add Public school is not for socialization it is for learning. I would rather get to chose who my children are around and socialize them with people we are comfortable with. Kids get more socialization going to the park, sports and co-op meets than a child in public school gets in a class room where they should be learning. With homeschooling we can have a say so of what kind of influences they are around. School socialization isn't always good socialization.
