Can you skip the 3 hr glucose test?

Hi I got my 1hr fasting results and my glucose levels were at 147. The nurse said I should come back for the 3-4 hr glucose test. I’m starting a new job this week and really don’t think want to ask for a half day already, especially if I’m borderline. Did anyone just not do the 3-4 hour test?

If I fail my 1 hour this time around I'm refusing the 3 hour test... But only because I had GD my first pregnancy and will just assume I have it again. If you failed borderline I would just go do the 3 hour test. Your employer should understand if they know your pregnant.

I know it’s inconvenient but it’s really best to just go ahead and do it. I had to do a 3 hour test also and my 1 hour levels were also 147 and I passed my 3 hour. Just try to get it done before you start this job and first thing in the morning.

You can talk to them about testing your blood sugar levels for 2/3 weeks a few times a day if it is really a big deal. I always fail the 1 hour but pass the 3 hr so that is what I am doing this time. You can get a glucose monitor for about $15 at Walmart if you are in the states.
