Too much nipple cream?

Question

Is it bad to apply nipple cream after every feeding and after every pumping session?
If I don't apply it then my nipples stick to the nursing pads, and it hurts!

When I first started breastfeeding I did this. Now we are over 7 months in and I don’t need to do it anymore.

I can’t decide.. I’m 3.5 months in and I apply it after 75% of feedings. My lactation specialist advised that I be careful of using the super thick kinds, like Lansinoh, bc it could potentially clog your ducts when over-applied. I use two different kinds of organic nipple butter, which work pretty well, but definitely seem lighter than some of the others, so it feels like a happy medium.

If you're worried, coconut oil helped me out a lot during the first few weeks after I ran out of that little tube of nipple cream the hospital gave me lol. Also if you have breast pads (or any kind of pads) you can wet and freeze them and then put them on w/ the coconut oil. Helped me so much!

It’s not bad- make sure they’re dry or you can cause a yeast infection. Been there. Also, you say they’ll stick to your bra/shirt- are you wiping them off with a wipe or do you leak? Having any milk on them will make them sticky because of the sugar in it.
