Sleep training method for 4 month old?

My son just turned 4 months yesterday and has been regressing HARD! I know he is too young for the cry it out method, what methods are okay for his age? Did you try any? Did they work? Please help out this tired momma!

Baby is to young at 4 months. Don't be afraid to cuddle them to sleep at such a young age. You will only have this time once.

We did the same thing as the poster above except at 5 months we started weaning him off night feedings and then did the same method as the previous poster at 6months and after a week or two he was sleeping soundly through the night and has for the last 2 years. 
At 4 months he was already sleeping in his own room so when it was bedtime (for baby not necessarily for you) we never turned the lights on for the duration of the night. IE. Diaper changes, feedings, waking we did it all in the dark. I didn’t want to confuse dark and light at that point. We also did not bring him out of his room if he woke, so no cosleeping snuggles even though it probably would have been easier. I still rocked him back to bed. At 16 weeks/ 4 months a sleep regression is super common. We tried not to increase any feedings and would just rock him back to bed

I think at that age I was just rocking to sleep.  My son was still waking up at 3am for a bottle.  Then at 5 months I sleep trained.  Can’t remember what the method was called but I would put him to bed and then every five minutes he cried I would go to him and talk to him (without picking him up) until he stopped crying.  Within a week he was sleep trained.
