Do Pap smears hurt?

Soo this is baby #2 for me, and also since I’m 21 now I’m going too have too get my first Pap smear. With baby #1, I remember around 15 weeks or so they inserted something plastic inside of me and did the swab.. Is that how this will feel? Or different?? I’m sure I’ll be fine but still wanna know 🙃

It’s the same plastic insertion with a swab so it’s likely you already had one when you were 15 lol.

They don’t hurt.

They take cells off your cervix so they insert the device right up to your cervix and take cells from around the opening. It can be uncomfortable depending how sensitive your cervix is. They do “scrape” it as they need actual skin cells it’s not just a swab. You may spot after as well so it’s recommended to wear a panty liner. 
I refused mine at my prenatal and will get it done at 6 weeks post partum. If it comes back that I have abnormal cells I would just stress all pregnancy about having cancer and not being able to treat it. Not like you can do anything while pregnant and you can’t do more testing to find out. Seems sort of silly to me to do them o don’t really get the purpose in early pregnancy lol.

With my son they did a Pap smear around 20 weeks and it didn’t feel too bad. A little pinch. But I was spotting after and I cramped for about 4 hours, which the dr said was totally normal. The cramping hurt worse than the actual Pap smear

Plastic sounds a lot warmer than the metal torture device mine used with my first 😂 the swab itself doesn’t hurt, depending on your vagina that thing they hold you open with can. 
I always felt violated
Personally I prefer a midwife that doesn’t stick things in your hoohah or no medical person at all. Plus it opens you up for infection.
