18 month old boy not talking or pointing?
My son has no intentions of imitating any words or sounds I make. He gets really easily frustrated I think this is because he can’t tell us what he wants. He doesn’t even say “mama” or “dada”.
I try everything to encourage him to talk or point because he doesn’t point at anything either. It’s a constant guessing game trying to figure out what he wants most the time.
His motor skills are amazing and he does understand me, for example; if I ask him to pick up his car and push it down the ramp he will do exactly that. If I tell him not to touch something or to put something back he’ll listen but talking back it’s like he’s not bothered to start.
I’m constantly singing nursery rhymes to him and he loves reading. I’ve simplified the way I talk to him, repeat everything and I’m always looking up fun new ways to encourage him to talk.
Does anyone have anything similar or know any games or thing I can do to get him to at least start imitating words of sounds?
Many thanks in advance!
