Is modesty possible when breastfeeding?

Question

I’m a private person but I want to breastfeed when bambino arrives next month. I know I won’t feel comfortable around other people, especially my in-laws. Last thing I want is for them to see the goods. I have flowy cardigans, shawls and blankets - do you think these would be enough to keep my nips from being exposed to the world?

I know you can get a breast feeding cover it looks kinda like a giant bib. That you can put on for breast feeding.

Yeah, but eventually you won’t care as much, but your nipples are going to be in use anyways, no one will see them. 
There’s so many nursing rooms made for mums now, and nursing tops, you’ll be good.

Covers worked for me when I breastfed. When he was older and would become distracted and want to see who was talking I would have to go somewhere quiet. He had a habit of throwing the cover off and exposing me. Happened in a store when I was waiting in line, I was so embarrassed (it was early days), but the woman in front of me made me feel so much better. She looked at him and said go for it let them all out so you can see everything, who cares.

Its definitely possible, some people are so awesome at staying completely covered and getting baby attached.. not me, i find a breastfeeding cover worked wonders, i could cover to get baby attached, then move cover out of way... (my kids hated being covered) then easily put cover back when baby was done, and i could cover up again.

You can try a nursing cover. It’s very practical.

Yes. Your nipple really won’t be exposed to the world. It’s visible with no covers for less than five seconds if you have a proper latch. In the beginning, getting baby to latch may be more difficult but using a cover, the two shirt method, or just turning around, your nipple will not be visible.

get lots of muslin blankets! I like these from Amazon, they are very breathable and lightweight, great for warmer months too! I dont mind breastfeeding in the comfort of my home or around my husband but I would prefer to cover up too in front of strangers, in laws, my dad, ect

Personally. Ive been breastfeeding 2 weeks now. Yesterday had to go out to a meeting and i was afraid to have to breastfeed because i dont like being exposed. So i took a bottle. Baby was asleep whole time so i didnt need it. I di have a breastfeeding cover that i think ill feel comfortable around relatives or people i know but to strangers or in store i may take a bottle incase.
