Cholestasis

Megan

I’m looking for women who have had this disease to share stories and lend some support during this time.

I’m 30 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child and have had a wonderfully normal pregnancy...until now.

2 days ago, I noticed my hands feeling dry and swelling slightly. Then, my feet started swelling and itching horribly. I couldn’t sleep that night because Of the itchiness. I called the doctor the next day and was told to come in right away. They found trace amounts of protein in my urine and my hands and feet examined. After some blood work, it was decided that I have cholestasis, a liver disorder that affects 1 in 500 pregnancies and the only cure is delivery of the baby. I’ve had non-stress tests (and will have 2 a week until I deliver) and will be on medication. They hope I make it to 35 weeks.

I would love to speak with those of you with similar stories.
