9dpo and really wanna test

I ovulated on July 30th confirmed with opk and ultrasound. I have had extreamly tender blobs for about 4 days. I really wanna test but I don't wanna be disappointed again. Ladies how long do you wait to test. I normally just wait til AF is late but my cycles are irregular. the fertility specialist did confirm I ovulated though :-) also, how do you stay positive after negative test
