6 years old sleeping wierd

Hi ladies,

I just am looking a bit of advice surrounding my wee girls sleeping. She is 6 years old, she takes inhalers for her asthma and a tablet to keep her airways open during the night.

Recently she has started waking up, crying, saying she feels like someone is trying to get in, like someone is watching her. There is only her and me in the house so she sleeps in my bed.

Last week or so she has started having wierd sleeps. She has been standing on the bed, over the top of me.. still asleep. Standing next to the bed still asleep standing at the top of the stairs still asleep. Last night she stayed at her dad's and he text me saying she had woken up and she didn't have a clue who he was or where she was.

I'm starting to get really freaked out by it. I called the doctor and spoke to her consultant yesterday and they said.. unless she is standing over you with a kitchen knife, there's not anything you can do.

Has anyone else exoerienced this? I'm 36 weeks and I'm being induced in 2 weeks ish. I'm scared to leave her

Could it be a reaction or a side effect of any medication she's on? I wouldn't be happy with the consultants response to be honest, I'd push for a second opinion

Sounds like she's got a ghost friend. I know that sounds odd, but my friends kid was similar (without the asthma). Talk to her about her dreams, ask her if it makes her scared, if it's sometimes funny, if the person in her dream has a name, if they tell her stories etc. If she doesn't feel threatened then I wouldn't worry. Maybe find a decent clairvoyant and have a reading done - Take your little girl along or have it done at home? Kids are more prone to seeing 'ghosts' because they have an open mind and imagination unlike most adults. How long has she been on these tablets for? If it's new could hallucinations be a side effect?

She's been on the tablets for near a year and this is the first time it's happened for a long time or she's mentioned someone else. It might be my daddy she's seeing

Could be an anxiety thing with the dreams possibly subconciously linked with the arrival of new baby, my son had nightmares when he was around 3 and then 6 but he is a very imaginative child but also quite anxious. In regards to the nightmares we found constant reassurance helped, also certain films, books made his nightmares worse. In regards to the sleepwalking not as sure but mayby just guide her back to bed, and make sure the house is safe, stairs protected to stop her falling.
