Optional growth scan...should I ?

Question

I mentioned to my Dr I'm feeling scared about having a giant baby. She said when she feels my belly it seems like it will be a 7 1/2 - 8 Lb baby... Which is totally fine with me, I get scared thinking about over 9lbs.

She offered to give me an ultrasound at 38 wks (I'm 37 now) but warned they are often off and scare people. Should I bother psyching myself or is it better to know and mentally prepare?

For me, I don't want to know. I believe my body will make the baby I'm suppose to have and birth. And my doc said same thing, the weight on an u/s can be off by a pound.

Just skip it, it's not accurate. My sister had a 9lb 15oz baby no tears or anything. Believe in your strength mama! You can birth your baby!

They're definitely not accurate. With my son, they were etimating be was going to be well over 9lbs. He was 7lbs 15oz when he was born.

I am going through the same thing... I am having my doctor do mine because is they say he will be 8.5 I know he will only be about 7.5 or 8

I'm going on Tuesday for my 37 week growth scan! I'm excited and hope baby is ready to come out!

I think go in and know that the ultrasound can be off by about a pound/pound and a half in either direction--you at least have a range to look at and I think it'll put your mind at ease--I had a growth scan done at 38 weeks and he was just under 6 pounds, but he could be up to 7 pounds, and since he hasn't been growing as fast as he should, he could still be around 5 1/2 pounds when born--but at least I have a range to look at, and that makes me, personally, feel much better about how big he could be
