Did you take your SO’s last name or did they take yours?

When we get married and sign the papers, my boyfriend wants to take my last name. Meanwhile I want to take his last name. His last name is 11 letters, mine is 8 letters so we don’t wanna combined then because that would be a long ass last name lol. 
I want to get rid of my last name because I hate my deadbeat dad. But he loves my last name because it’s the same as a president. 
How did you guys come to a consensus about who’s having whose last name?

I took my husband’s name.  I like tradition and his last name is 72627x easier than my maiden name was lol.

I took my husbands and he has a deadbeat dad. More like a sperm donor in his words lol. But my husband doesn't mind it now because we are making a name for ourselves regardless. He's not a deadbeat, he's nothing like his father, so we make it look good. We make it better. Take the negative and make it a positive.
