Is it okay to give a gift card for a baby shower?

We are not that close and the baby shower is the weekend.

We use to be kinda close, she got pregnant told me she couldn’t be there for me anymore (no clue why she said that) and didn’t talk to me for 5 months. I got an invite to her shower at the beginning of January. She texted me two weeks ago saying how she missed me like I was the one who stopped talking to her.

I looked on her registry hoping to see some onesies, toys, bath stuff, idk something fairly cheap. I could get a few thing so it felt like a nice gift but there was nothing.

I have never worried about what others put on there baby registry but she has $30 books, Not for a baby. ... I’m sorry I dont feel comfortable getting that.

The other things are sports onesies I would have had to order and now it’s too late.

There are no little gifts besides that.. so I think a target gift card would be nice to get anything she feels she needs after the shower or maybe after baby comes?

What do you guys normally write in a card if you get a gift card?
