Zofran?

Question

Anyone else on this for hyperemesis/morning sickness? Were you hesitant as it’s still pretty unknown to have any side effects on baby?

My doctor said Zofran isn’t safe, and I was taking it weekly with my chronic illness before. Now I take B6/ CVS nighttime sleep aid and haven’t had as much nausea.

I started taking 4mg of Zofran in the mornings at 10 weeks. Occasionally I would have to take it twice a day when I was really bad. I lost 10lbs in my first trimester! I’m now 14 weeks and am still taking it once per day first thing in the mornings. I’m finally gaining some weight back.

Zofran has been a life saver! I’m 15 weeks and still throw up about 2-3 times a week even with the pill. Before it was way worse. My doctor said it’s completely fine taking it after 6 weeks. I tried the b6 before and it did nothing. I probably couldn’t work without.

The first month I had to take zofran religiously, now it’s every once in a while. I also do the b6/unisom route.

I do not have HG, and I had minimal nausea this second pregnancy. However, if I needed to take something for nausea and vomiting it would not be Zofran, I’d go the B6 and Unisom route. That’s just my own personal opinion since It is a drug approved by the FDA for treatment of nausea/vomiting associated with chemotherapy, surgeries, etc.. not for pregnant woman. However, I don’t believe there are any proven studies that it causes any defects like I’ve seen rumored it does, like you said it’s unknown. With that said, I know it works wonders bc I have taken it when I had extreme nausea after surgery and if it works wonders during pregnancy then I say take it so you can have relief from nausea and vomiting!

Zofran was a lifesaver my first pregnancy. The unisom/B6 combo did nothing for me. Good luck.

I took it in my last pregnancy for a week but stopped because it didn’t work at all. It was totally useless for me. This pregnancy I took degan, and I know they have it in the US it just goes by a different name I think. It was about 40% effective which is amazing. I don’t need it anymore but try the zofran, if it doesnt work there are many other brands that might be better for you!

Hate meds I stopped and suffered a while and finally just stopped eat and drinking bc it triggers it I eat gram crackers  grapes and strawberries he loves burgers but I'm broke so I starve can't drink anything bc I'll pee my life away from one sip starving losing weight and suffering Hg 😑 I'll probably end up living in the hospital my last few months bc it's no way to help my son meds barely work
