Reality of Motherhood
I just want to start by saying, I love being a mother.
But everything we post on social media is only the good parts. The first smile, the babbling, the crawling and first steps. And that’s fine! We want people to see how much our baby is growing and who they are turning out to be. But no one EVER shows the exhaustion, and the losing your mind because of the constant crying and sleep deprivation. The not being able to settle the baby no matter what and the struggle of deciding whether to sleep or clean the house.
People only see all the good parts and young people decide it’s all fun and easy to give birth, and raise a child. And 95% of the time it is fun, but about 5% of the time I’m just holding on to my last thread.
Obviously being a mother/parent includes all of this! And I’m not saying that we should post our hard times all the time. You just don’t ever see the tough times of being a parent.
I was sure in shock and felt like a complete failure when I couldn’t settle my baby after seeing everyone posting their sleeping and happy bubbas all over the Internet.
I don’t want any negativity from this post, I just wanted to rant. So if you don’t have anything nice to say please just scroll on 🙃
