Are registries tacky if you aren’t having a shower?

We recently moved cross country and only know like 3 people where we live now. This isn’t our first kid, either. Is it tacky to post a registry? I feel like it is..but who knows.

In that situation, I would definitely still have a registry!  You having to move isn’t going to stop your loved ones from wanting to shower you. Might as well give them some choices.

Depends how you share it. Making a registry and unilaterally spamming it to a bunch of friends who never indicated they want to get you a gift? Tacky. Making a registry, then when family and friends ask you what you need, telling them that you have a registry and where? Not tacky.

I don’t think so. This is my 2nd, I’m not having a shower, and my family asked me for a registry last night. I also live near them. I was making one for myself to get the discount but they asked for it so I’ll share it.

My sister and her family are stationed out of state... me and my other sisters are hosting an “online baby shower” for her on Facebook. At first my sister didn’t like the idea said it sounded “lazy” .. I told her it’s “lazy” if I had my baby shower online while living in the same town as our family! Lol our family and her friends have so far LOVED the idea that they get to still participate in celebrating their 2nd child with this online baby shower that takes place in a few weeks!

I would still make a registry and share it on your social media for friends/family! Make sure your registry also has your shipping address so anything purchased can be shipped to you. ☺ I have a friend who did this for extended family who couldn't travel from SC to MA for a baby shower - it was greatly appreciated!

Not at all. I wasn’t even expecting my family to buy things for this baby as it’s baby #2. I created a registry on amazon for my own personal use. I was literally making a list of things I knew I would need. My family ended up buying things off it but I definitely wasn’t planning on it.

Not at all! I actually started one because there are a few things I need to replace after my first and a few things I’d like this time around that we didn’t have before. If you start one at target you get a coupon to use later for anything that wasn’t purchased off your registry. I’m hoping to use the coupon on some of the bigger ticket items if I can. We need a new car seat, I want a different video monitor, and also a different bassinet.

I would just wait for people to inevitably ask what you need. I think it’s presumptuous to create a registry for a second baby.
