Should private schools have stricter regulations on education content and school policies
I am working with a middle school aged girl who attends a Private Christian School. This girl likes girls, and recognizes herself as lesbian. However, it is against school policy to engage in any homosexual behavior, engaging in such could have her expelled. Students have been called into the office and questioned even after small rumors occur. They are then required after school education on the bible and being gay. During chapel they preach anti-gay and anti-transgender information, such as condemning them to hell and sharing other anti-LGBTQ propaganda, much of which parents have expressed goes beyond normal bounds of bible education, stepping into areas of hate and intolerance. The school's response to it is, if you don't like it, leave. Many families have had their children there since infancy and leaving would mean leaving friends etc. And a good education compared to area public schools. Should private religious schools be required to act on state regulations of discrimination? Or held to some certain standards of them? Or remain on the policy of, you dont like it dont attend?
NOTE: This is not to start and argument of whether or not the bible is right or wrong, if homosexuality is wrong, etc. Simply seeing others opinions on what regulations private schools should follow if any.
