When can I take a bath??

Question

I know we aren’t supposed to take one right away but I’m 2 and a half weeks postpartum, had no tears or anything like that, but I’ve had the worst eczema outbreak. It’s all over and I’m so uncomfortable. It’s probably from my hormones going bezerk now but I am dying to soak in the tub because slapping on moisturizer 100 times a day isn’t helping at all. When am I allowed to take a bath? 😩

I was told I could bath the day after I gave birth and that was with a tear and cut.

The no bath rule isn't for your vagina. It's because you have a dinner plate sized internal wound from the placenta. I personally know 3 women who got uterine infections from taking a bath too soon. Can you try using wet washcloths soaked in whatever remedy you use? Lay them on your skin and sit in the dry bathtub? I personally wouldn't risk anything but a sitz bath that soon.

I was specifically told to take baths with Epsom salt to help heal my tear/stitches so you should be good to go this far out.

I was told baths were not only appropriate but encouraged immediately.  My midwife even had me take a bath in the hospital the day after I delivered.   Just be cautious on adding any extras to the water (oils, bath bombs , etc)

When can I take a bath??
