Can I give my two week old prune juice?
My son is almost 3 weeks old and for the past 3 to 4 days he’s been having a real hard time pooping. He is breast-fed and at first we thought it was the iron supplements that I was taking from my mild anemia passing through to him and making him constipated so I stopped taking those and it helped for like a day and he was able to poop on his own with no issues but now it’s back. He’s often pushing and pushing and pushing and still no poop. He’ll have one to three poops a day but that’s not without him pushing and being fussy for a good 20 minutes. The poop isn’t hard, or dry, it’s still normal bright yellow and seedy but it’s just concerning to me and his dad that he’s pushing so hard and has so much discomfort. He used to poop more than four or five times a day but now we’re lucky if we get three. His doctor says it’s normal and it should pass on it’s own but I’m considering getting him some baby prune juice and adding a small amount to his milk to see if that will work because it’s to the point where he’s crying and getting even more cranky when he’s trying to go.
