Our birth story ☺️💕

ShyLynn

On January 15th we went in at 8pm to be induced still only 2cm dilated and 75% effaced, around 9pm I was started on Pitocin and the contractions started almost immediately but weren’t painful so our nurse upped the dosage because she wanted me to be in a rhythm of at least 3 contractions every 10 minutes. After a couple hours my contractions were coming 3 every 5 minutes and were quite painful but I was trying to go without pain medication. Around 3am the contractions got so painful we called in our nurse to check to see if I had dilated any more and sadly my nurse said I hadn’t changed at all! After talking with the nurse and getting ahold of my doctor we decided to get the epidural to try and let my body rest because by now my contractions were coming right on top of each other and weren’t letting up. After getting the epidural I was able to sleep for 30-45 minutes but was getting woke up because I was starting to feel my contractions again and I knew that the epidural shouldn’t have worn off that quickly so we called in our nurse and let her know so she checked me again and said I had dilated to a 4 but could stretch me to a 5 but said she would call the anesthesiologist back in to give me another dose of the epidural. After that dose was administered we rotated me on my side and put a peanut ball in between my legs, I sat there talking with my mom and husband for about 10-15 minutes and was crying in pain because I got 3 intense contractions back to back that made my butt hurt and it felt like I needed to push but I was told it was just how the baby was positioned so I tried to just breathe through them. My husband finally called in our nurse and she said she would check me again but was positive it was just the way baby was positioned but to her surprise I was complete after about 10-15 minutes! Our nurse called in another nurse and a scrub tech to get the room set up and gave my doctor a call and asked him if he wanted us to do some some practice pushes. On the next contractions we I was told to push and then was immediately told to stop because my bag of waters was right there and my doctor hadn’t shown up yet! The hardest thing to do is breathe through the contractions and your body wanting to push but the nurses telling you to wait but my doctor finally got there didn’t even have time to scrub up just put on some gloves, broke my water and told me on my next contractions to start pushing, on my third push I was told to stop because apparently the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and our doctor had to kind of push her head back in to get the umbilical cord up and over her neck but in the next two pushes she was out! Our little girl was born January 16th 2019 at 6:33am weighing 7lbs and was 20 inches long, we are happy to add little miss Teagan Kay to our family 💕
