Shingles while TTC
Looking for some other opinions, thoughts, advice...
I’m 37 and TTC. My IUI is scheduled for this month, most likely next Thursday or Friday and I was just diagnosed with shingles this past Saturday. It’s a mild case, just a few itching/burning spots on my side, and i’ve started anti-viral medication.
I called my fertility clinic today and asked how I should proceed. They said that as long as I don’t have any open blisters (gross, I know) that I would be OK to proceed with IUI.
Any thoughts on this? I had chicken pox when I was younger, so I’m immune. And everything I’m reading online says that shingles wouldn’t be harmful to a fetus should I get pregnant this cycle (unlike chicken pox, which I know is very harmful). I’m hoping the blisters would be healed by the 31st anyway, but I’m still on the fence about whether or not I’m comfortable moving forward.
Should I wait until next month??
