My boyfriend moved to the other side of the country to go to university. He really wants us to get a place together next year, which I was excited about too, until he started saying that he still wants to go home for all the holidays and live at home with his family again after he’s finished uni. What he doesn’t appreciate is that I need to quit my job and find another one where he lives, and I can’t just get a job with months of holiday time. What am I supposed to do when he goes back home for the holidays? Be hundreds of miles away from my friends and family by myself? It also makes me feel really hurt that he would want to stop living together after he’s finished uni. Am I his partner or his part time roommate?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Am I just overreacting?

Update: We talked everything through again and it turned out I had misunderstood what he meant on a few things, we have decided to get a place together and will most likely continue to live together after he has finished uni (possibly depending on how soon he has a job/income) and he’s promised that he won’t leave me there to go home in the holidays.
