My Christmas Baby ❤️🥰
As a ftm, my labor and delivery was not how I expected it to go. I got to the hospital at 7:24pm on December 23, 2018 (my actual due date) due to decrease movements. I got to triage and the did the usual, got me hooked up to the monitors and gave me a big cup of ice water. I had been trying to get my baby to move since 7:00 yesterday evening and once I got to the hospital and started drinking the water low and behold he starts kicking up a storm. I’ve did everything I could to get him to move, I had to go to the hospital just to get him to move... GREAT. They check me and I wasn’t even at a 1, and I was still thick with a high cervix. Well since I was full term, the on call doctor came in and asked if I wanted to be induce. (WORST DECISION EVER!) The first thing that came out of my mouth was YESSSS, get this baby out of me. I get admitted to l&d and I get all my paperwork done and get hooked up to the IV. Around 11 pm they come in and insert the cervidil and they told me it would stay in for 12 hrs. 1 pm on Christmas Eve they come and take it out, check me and I’m at 2. They let me eat and take a shower before they started pitocin at 3pm. Around 6pm they come in and check me again and I’m at 4. Well it’s to the point where they have me on the highest level of pitocin, I’m not really feeling contractions but they are close together. At 11 pm that night they come in and ask me if I want the epidural (I’m still not in pain and on the highest level of pitocin now) they ask because the anesthesiologist was going in surgery and didn’t know how long he would be so I say yeah. They come in at 11:30 and and insert my epidural, it wasn’t bad as people make it seem. At 12am they check me and I’m at 5. They broke my water and everyone is thinking “oh we’ll have a baby in no time”. Boy was everyone WRONG. At 3am I get checked again and I’m still at 5. They come in at 6 am they check me again and I’m still at 5. They come in at 8am and guess what? I’m still at 5. Now it’s to the point where I’m tired, I’m sleepy and I just wanna meet my baby. So I asked the nurse what’s the possibility of me having a csection? She said she didn’t know, she’ll go ask the doctor. So at 9 am they come in and we start talking about me having a csection. Well I decided to just go ahead and tell them yea, let’s get this show on the road. At 9:30 they starting getting me prepped. And off to the OR we go. Once I got in there that’s when I started to panic. They put me on the table and things is starting to get bad. I get the feeling that I want to puke so I tell the anesthesiologist who was there beside me and she gives me some medicine through my IV. I was feeling the incision being made and they gave me more medicine. At 9:55 am on Christmas Day my beautiful baby boy was born. Weighing in at 8lbs 14oz 20in long. He came out, eyes wide open, not crying but he was fine. Once dad and baby left so I could get closed up, I was out. I don’t know if they gave me something or I was that tired. The worst part of my whole delivery was the aftermath, when they had to oust on my stomach to make sure my uterus was contracting like it was supposed to but other than that, I would do it all over again for him. He’ll be a month old on Friday.
