Adding rice cereal to my 2 month olds bottle?

My baby is exclusively on breast milk, whether it’s breast or a pumped bottle. She is usually eating 4oz every 3 hours but she never sleeps more then 2 hours. Just starting a few nights ago she won’t sleep longer then an hour. Im going crazy and running off 0 sleep. Im so desperate. Has anyone tried rice cereal added to a bottle at night? If so how much? I’ve been told to do formula at night but im not wanting to do that

No do not do this, their immature digestive systems can only handle milk at this stage, I'm a big supporter of nothing but milk before 6 months. How old is your baby? It's most probably a phase just gotta rid it out, try and get as much help as possible when you can from your husband, family and friends, never be ashamed to ask for a little bit of help especially when you are so tired, I hope it doesn't last too long for you and good luck in whatever you decide to do 😊

Rice cereal is sometimes recommended for acid reflux! My little girl wouldn’t keep NOTHING down for like a week. The pedi told me to add just a little bit at a time! I did. She’s finally keeping things down. I WOULDN’T have done it if she wasn’t spitting up! But for medical reasoning sometimes it works. Talk to your pedi.

I know everyone is saying don’t add rice but my pediatrician told me to add it to my sons bottles when he used to throw up more 🤷🏽‍♀️

It’s not recommended due to being a choking hazard and it can also ruin their digestive tract and make them susceptible to obesity later in life, per my lactation consultant. Sleep is developmental, so hunger has essentially nothing to do with how long baby sleeps. I know it’s hard mama, but it’ll pass soon. Hang in there.

It’s so annoying to hear but honestly just call her pediatrician for this info. Some will say it’s fine others will say it’s evil to do such a thing... But the truth is your pediatrician is the only one with all the facts and an unbiased opinion on how to raise your baby. I’m sure if there was you would be be so tired... but if you pumped could anyone do night feedings here and there? I know that helped me sooo much. After 4 straight hours of sleep I’d feel like a new woman.

I know you may not want to do give your baby formula but it would be so much better for them than adding rice cereal as they are too young and it’s not suitable for them. I was so sure that I only wanted to breastfed but my little boy was so hungry I had to switch to formula as I wasn’t making enough milk. It’s up to you as it’s your child but a health visitor would never recommend giving them rice cereal

I wouldn’t do it. But there’s nothing wrong with supplementing with formula just at night and BM the other times. It’s a win win situation. She’s still being fed and you get some sleep.

Don’t add rice milk. No need to do formula. Just keep offering the breast, ask for help from your spouse, and ride it out. Sorry mama. Sounds like a growth spurt! Bottoms up on coffee.
