Antibiotics lower IUD effectiveness?

I know while on the pill taking antibiotics lowers their effectiveness but it's that the same with the IUD?

I was told by my GYN that antibiotics will not effect the iud at all.

I have a friend with a chronic illness who is on 2 antibiotics that rotate every few months and she has the mirena and it hasnt lowered hers at all. The hormones stay in your uterus.
